Emotional Communication Series
Emotional communication is both the common experience of resonating emotionally with another person or group and a specific clinical technique. Modern psychoanalysis offers a range of theory based, goal-directed techniques in which clinicians use repeated countertransference emotional inductions to make interventions. This series offers four seminars on the use of emotional communication: in clinical work and training, in the classroom setting, in family life and with people suffering from dementia.

This panel addresses the importance of emotional communication in the pre-school classroom setting and in middle school.
Presenters:
Vanessa Cid, MEd is a preschool teacher and a graduate of the CAGS program at BGSP.
Bonnie Irwin, MALS, MA, is an advanced doctoral candidate at BGSP and also taught middle school.
Elizabeth Dorsey, MSW, CertPsya is a supervising and training analyst at BGSP.
Continuing Education Objectives:
Participants will be able to:
- Describe the use of emotional communication as it pertains specifically to pre-school children in a classroom setting.
- Describe how this type of training can be applied to a sixth grade classroom setting.
- Apply the use of emotional communication in one’s own work either in public schools at other settings or levels.
